Day 31

July 27th Thursday Hung out in St Saint. Marie

Well, Thursday turned out to be quite a big day for us.

The police department in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan gave us an escort up to the International Bridge.  Then the International Bridge Authority gave us an escort across this very high and impressive expanse of steel and concrete.  Finally, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Police and the Department of Conservation gave us an escort all the way through town.  We ended up about 15 clicks from downtown.  Quite a cool way to start the day.  I’ve included numerous photos of that little journey.

We also met Bill and Jane from Portland, Tennessee.  They were up for a wedding and didn’t want to waste any atv time so they brought em along for a little ride.  Before the day really got started

Before we realized it, the day had kind of gotten away from us and we decided to not ride until tomorrow.  The days trip was going to take up to 8 hours and we were going to stay in a remote cabin in the woods.  It just made more sense to start early tomorrow.  We took the opportunity to visit with some local folks about atv routes and we visited the great Arctic Cat Dealership of Construction, Equipment Co.  Master Mechanic Arthur Parr decided if we had a few minutes he wanted to throw some new brake shoes on.
When I asked why he said “ You’re going to be braking about every five minutes for moose and the last thing you want to hit is a moose”  So Arthur “got er dun” and checked out the rest of the machine and sent us on our way.

We will be leaving Friday morning and not be able to up load photos or articles for a few days as we will have no internet access.  Kind of a blessing in disguise I think.  No way for anyone to call you and no way for you to call them.  Maybe we’ll even throw a line in a catch a few walleye tomorrow when we arrive at the cabin.

Finally, a couple of WAY GOOD NEWS DEALS.  Tomorrow morning, Spike at the Mike, WGN Chicago will do a live interview of how the trip is going.  This very popular show broadcast to a bunch of people so now I have to start watching what I say.  Oh, one other thing.  When the trip is over we have been invited to be on ABC’s  Good Morning America and bring our ATV and transport to time square to meet Diane Sawyer.

As they would say in Minnesota, “It’s turning into quite the deal”!!!!
